In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): Micromanipulation

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

Carolina Conceptions offers Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) which is a micromanipulation technique developed to help overcome male infertility.Photo

Male infertility can include any of the following problems:

  • Absent or low sperm counts
  • Poor motility or movement of the sperm
  • Poor sperm morphology or shape
  • Sperm that are unable to penetrate an egg

With ICSI, a single sperm is injected directly into the egg. Doing this, bypasses many male infertility problems.   Additionally, it is also successful with sperm that are considered less than ideal for conventional IVF process.  Typically, ICSI is performed for approximately 85% of all fertility patients to maximize fertilization potential.

You will also be given detailed consent forms (link to consent form) concerning IVF laboratory processes, and you must review and sign them prior to the beginning your medications.
